Karen Larkin, CLTC – CEO

Karen Larkin, CLTC – CEO

As CEO of Midsouth Benefits, Karen Larkin brings to her work over twenty-five years of experience in employee benefits. Her background includes working as a senior sales executive and manager with several major insurance carriers and as a broker/consultant with other employee benefit brokerage firms. She has first-hand knowledge of what it takes to work with clients of all sizes and industries, ranging from small, closely held organizations to large nationally known firms. Karen’s experience and connections within the employee benefits arena gives her clients an added advantage through access to her wide network contacts and industry resources. By listening to her clients’ goals and objectives, and taking the time to understand each client’s unique work “culture”, Karen strives to exceed the clients’ expectations on all levels by paying close attention to the details.

Karen is responsible for sales and overseeing ongoing account management which includes communications, marketing, compliance and customer service. She is also responsible for identifying new insurance/benefit products and services for clients’ consideration, as well performing financial evaluations and insurer negotiations.


Jack Rehm, CLU – President

Jack Rehm, CLU – President

Jack Rehm, President of Midsouth Benefits, entered the insurance business in 1972. He has held several top-level positions with a number of national firms, that include brokerage supervisory and manpower development responsibilities. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 1977, Jack started an estate planning and life insurance brokerage firm which was later successfully merged with a multi-line insurance agency. Prior to forming Midsouth Planning Corporation in 1990, Jack was an estate planning and employee benefits consultant for Merrill Lynch. Negotiating with the insurance carriers on plan designs and pricing for the benefit of our clients is Jack’s passion, and due to his experience and expertise in life insurance and alternative funding mechanisms, as well as his vast product knowledge and financial acuity, he is highly successful in this regard.


Suzanne Kleeman – Vice President

Suzanne Kleeman – Vice President

As a Vice President of Midsouth Benefits, Suzanne Kleeman is responsible for developing new client relationships, as well as the servicing and growing of existing client relationships. Suzanne began her career in employee benefits after graduating from the University of Georgia, where she majored in risk management and insurance. After graduation, Suzanne worked for a national insurance carrier before becoming an employee benefits broker. As a broker for almost a decade now, Suzanne has worked closely with business owners and human resource managers to develop, implement and administer the employee benefit solutions that more than meet the needs and goals of those clients. Suzanne has an in depth knowledge and understanding of the insurance contracts utilized in employee benefit plans. This helps her negotiate insurance policies that provide maximum value for her clients. She is also a strong advocate for the employees; working hard to ensure that they receive the benefits and services that they deserve and are entitled to receive. Suzanne is an active sponsor of the North Fulton Medical Group Management Association and the North Metro Medical Managers Association.


Dan Nackers – Senior Account Manager

Dan Nackers – Senior Account Manager

As a Senior Account Manager, Dan has over nine years of experience in employee benefits. He started in the business during his Junior year at the University of Georgia, where he obtained his degree in Risk Management & Insurance in 2007. After several years of work as both a broker and also as a client services manager for a voluntary benefit company, he joined Midsouth Benefits in May 2015. He has a very strong attention to detail, a vast knowledge and understanding of employee benefits, and is determined to provide the highest level of service to our clients and their employees.


Julie Blanchard - Account Manager

Julie Blanchard - Account Manager

As an Account Manager, Julie has the responsibility to monitor and manage accounts on a day-to-day basis. With fourteen plus years of accountability for managing client accounts, Julie brings a high level of competency and professionalism to her job. She has leadership qualities and her attention to detail, friendly demeanor, and strong work ethic are why our clients have come to rely so strongly on her.


Lee Ann Sharpton – Customer Service Manager

Lee Ann Sharpton – Customer Service Manager

As our Customer Service Manager, Lee Ann has a special emphasis on providing customer service to our clients’ employees and their family members. She works alongside the Account Managers providing additional administrative backup and support, including but not limited to billing reconciliations, claims resolution, and enrollment processing. In addition, Lee Ann manages our individual health business. Lee Ann is dedicated to making the lives of our clients and their employees easier. With her friendly and outgoing personality, she proves on a daily basis that she cares and will go the extra mile to help the employer and employees resolve all issues to their satisfaction.


Elizabeth Bass – Director of Compliance & Communications

Elizabeth Bass – Director of Compliance & Communications

As the Compliance and Communications Director, Elizabeth is able to apply her twenty plus years of experience to her work in managing employee benefit plans. She has held a senior account manager position with both regional and national employee benefit brokerage firms, handling employers ranging in size from 50 to 5000 employee lives. In addition to overseeing the renewal, marketing and plan administration for her clients, she has done extensive work with these employers in developing comprehensive communication strategies and educational material. She brings a detailed oriented approach to her work that compliments her knowledge in the compliance, plan design and communications arena.


Candace Headley – Wellness Development Manager

Candace Headley – Wellness Development Manager

As our firm's Wellness Development Manager, Candace is responsible for working with our clients to assist them with the design, compliance and implementation strategy for an employer sponsored Wellness Program. Additionally, her role includes providing clients with ideas, trends and best practices within the wellness industry, as well support and guidance with the education and communication of the employer’s wellness program and activities. Candace is a Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist and holds a degree from Kennesaw State University in Sports Management. She is focused on improving the health and wellness of employees by implementing "behavioural change" centered programs and events for our clients.


Jennifer Iogha – Administrative Assistant

Jennifer Iogha – Administrative Assistant

As an Administrative Assistant, Jennifer provides administrative support to our Brokers and Account Managers in the various aspects of their respective daily tasks, associated with both our group and individual clients. Jennifer is instrumental in assisting our clients with the enrollment and termination of benefits for their employees, as well as with the processing of mid-year benefit election changes. She understands that timeliness, accuracy and compliance with insurers’ and regulatory guidelines are a critical part of her work. Her strong work ethic and detail-oriented approach ensures that Midsouth Benefits is providing the client with the highest level of support upon which they know they can rely.
